The Ukulele Section

By Cynthia Smith, 2013-06-20

Creative Identity, a fine arts and music performance day program for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, had its annual Summer client concert on Saturday, June 8th at their facility within the Fellowship Hall of St. Paul's Presbyterian Church in Anaheim.

This memorable event, entitled Bridging Differences, Embracing Diversity, brought in a full house of about 160 attendees who marveled at the accomplishments of the program's client performers.

The new Creative Identity Dance Troupe performed a tap dance to an original scat song, a tango to the song Blue Tango, and a modern dance with scarves to the piece Celtic Celebration. The Creative Identity String Ensemble presented beautiful work on violins, viola, and cellos to Edward Elgar's Salut D'amour, Johannes Brahms' Waltz, and Mozart's Eine Kleine Nachtmusic. The Creative Identity Choir performed many lovely and up-lifting songs including, Shambala, I Sing the Body Electric, and Volare.

Attendees were also treated to the opportunity to view and purchase the one-of-a-kind client artwork and ceramic ware.

The next community concert will be held in early December this year. However, the talented client performance group, The Pride Band, will be performing at Creative Identity's Harvest of Creativity Gala Dinner and Fundraising event on October 26th at St. Mark Presbyterian Church in Newport Beach. This will also be a memorable event, so please contact Creative Identity at (714) 527-2508 for more information about up-coming events and about their fine arts and music therapy day program.
