The Nutcracker on Public Radio
Two dancers perform part of the Party Scene during a dress rehearsal
of The Nutcracker at Anaheim Ballet in Anaheim,
Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012.
KPCC reporter Adolpho Guzman-Lopez aired a delightful piece on the radio today (12/21) concerning the mammoth volunteer program that enables the Anaheim Ballet to stage its annual Nutcracker Ballet. The shows at the City National Grove of Anaheim are now past, but the entire company, with all the volunteers, is just about to set off for Laughlin, Nevada, for a further five shows.
Larry Rosenberg, the Anaheim Ballet’s executive director, said the show simply wouldn’t go on without those parents.
“It just starts from the ground up, from the very first audition, you know there’s going to be costumes, sets, props, music issues, staging, theater, transport issues," Rosenberg said. "Everything we hope you don’t think about when you come see the performance.”
