The Anaheim Art Association celebrates its 50th Anniversary in 2013. Established in 1963, it was formed to promote the understanding and appreciation of art among the citizens of Anaheim, and to encourage the establishment of an art center.

One of the primary goals of the association is to encourage the study and practice of all fields of two-dimensional art. Member artists from beginners to advanced, participate in a monthly competition for ribbons. At the end of the year the two artists who have accrued the most points are named Artists of the Year.

In addition to this current exhibit at Center Gallery, Art Association members show their art at different venues including Starbucks on Lincoln Boulevard.

Once a year the Association coordinates an Open Juried Art Show in which artists from all over Orange County participate. The show was held at the Anaheim GardenWalk last year and a winter show is being planned for 2013.

The Association participates in a number of community events throughout the year, such as Anaheimís Fall and Summer Festivals, and the Downtown Anaheimís Art Crawls.

At each monthly meeting a professional artist demonstrates their technique and talks about the art. Each artists also donates a painting or other work to be awarded as an opportunity prize (non-members are always welcome), and buying a raffle ticket or two is a great way to own an original painting for a few dollars.

The Anaheim Art Association derives financial support entirely from its patrons and members. Membership is $25.00 a year. If anyone is interested in purchasing artwork from this exhibition, please contact the artist whose telephone number is displayed in the card with each painting.

For information about AAA meetings, exhibitions, shows or weekly painting workshops, contact President Tony Podue at (714) 683-5520.
