Awards Night at Arts Council
Awards are always popular. Just watch the emotion at the Academy Awards, or the very recent Tony Awards. And the Arts Council also has its awards night when grants and scholarships are handed out.
Grants go to member organizations provided the grant applications meet all the requirements; and scholarships go to graduating high school students whose intention is to pursue the arts in college. Of course, these students must also submit applications and audition before a panel of judges.
So it was a joy to see organization representative come forward as they were called by Grants Committee chair June Glenn. Every dollar awarded will be put into a variety of program to further the arts, and even more particularly, the people impacted by the arts, in Anaheim. We do not have space here to describe here all the incredible benefits that derive from these grants.
Dr. Susan Stocks, chair of the Scholarship Committee introduced each scholarship winner with additional comments from letters submitted by their school teachers. Then their either performed or exhibited their pictures.
Naturally, the audience was filled to capacity with proud parents and friends pressing in to witness the moment when organization or student received the envelope and posed for photographs.
Here is a photo collage of the happy winners.
